 Money Saving Tips

Get help on credit counseling and negotiating lower rates on your credit cards from a reputable not-for-profit organization Such as National Foundation for Credit Couseling:

http://www.nfcc.org/

Save credit card for purchases you can pay off in 3 months, such as transmission repair and home improvements that will pay off in your income tax refund.  For example, if double pain windows cost $1500 on your credit carde and you will get $450 back on income tax and save $50 per month over the Summer in utilities, then you need to be able to pay off the remaining $800 off in 3 months.

Don't count on 0% for one year, you may loose your job in 4 months, and then how do you make the payments.  Consider slip covers instead of replacing the whole living room at 0%.  If you have the money in savings, then by all means use the 0% for a year and let your savings draw interest.
